Problem Statement

Babies outgrow clothes very quickly, leading to waste and underutilized garments. At the same time, the textile industry faces criticism for its environmental footprint. Parents also struggle to access sustainable yet affordable babywear, as existing premium brands are often priced beyond reach.

The startup addresses the growing issue of fabric waste from baby clothing accumulating in landfills by creating a sustainable system that recycles and reuses garments, promoting circular fashion while reducing environmental impact while creating a sustainable, high-demand opportunity in the baby apparel industry.

Idea Statement

It is a word derived from Hindi language, so it can easily connect with the Indian audience, and us also easy to pronounce. It is also memorable as it means “a gentle pat of affection”. Thapkii, as the name suggests, is a touch of comfort for your child, as well as our planet - Mother Earth. Blending the concept of having skin friendly natural fabrics like Cotton and Linen, and minimising dumping of fabric waste in landfills, Thapkii aims to build a sustainable clothing brand that prioritises quality products and recycling.
